Da recording room matters just as much as our playback room.
Audiophiles assume recordings are perfect, but surprise! Recordings do not have perfect acoustics.

Agree with Rich. Got me to thinking of the recording side, which is ~ 50%. I have seen recording studio side in the 70s-80s, and the huge expense is due to the sheer volume of equipment circuitry. However, the actual quality of the studio recording gear is in the basic audio component, mediocre arena,  what one finds in some low budget stores.

Luckily, some record using minimal equipment for higher quality, and some use analog to digital on the premises, good news, glad to hear. I believe VTL designed and built their own studio using tubes.
