Interesting find.   So we have mass and friction to remove resonance. Nothing new but the material and method different.
Open eyes gents. Off to Home Depot.

I stopped reading TAS a long time ago. I may have to head to Barnes and Noble to check this out. I have a box of copper bbs somewhere in my house that I would gladly use for audio tweaking.

Copper won't do it. They have to be zinc coated steel BBs. According to the article copper BBs actually degraded the sound.

Can anyone say "rollerblocks"?

They were the rage about 5-10 years ago. Same principle, but because they are captive in a concave (spoon-like) block they won't roll off the table.

Bob the BBs are in a sealed container. Totally different approach.  One does not put components "on' the BBs. The Pon-tunes are similar in concept to the roller blocks.

Te use of steel BBs is being offered up in this article ith the thought of doing some kind of stray EMF absorbtion a la the VPI Brick, but at at fraction of the price. (I have seen those "bricks" sold on ebay recently at prices north of $100, probably double of what they sold for new.)

Just release ever screw in your digital source. It does the same thing but zero cost. The source seems to be the best place in my system. I remember when Steve Nugent used to recommend taking the Perpetual dac out of its enclosure. Back when he was doing mods.

I used one of those on my old Nakamichi cd players that kept requiring laser changeouts. It's sitting in the Landfill under a heap of garbage. Probably still there if any one wants to go look for it for parts.

Well due to Black Friday and Cyber Monday Dick's Sporting Goods has free shipping on any order regardless of amount so I ordered 12,000 BBs. They came to a little over $14 for each 6K pack which is cheaper than Amazon. I have some old watch boxes and will see if they can hold the BBs. I'll be putting them on one of my amps first and then one of my isolation transformers.

I remember having a huge box of BB's from when I was a kid (probably copper). One day I picked up the cardboard box they apparently were in and either slipped, dropped it, or there was some kind of hole. But all of a sudden there were 1000 BB's all over the floor and running away from me in all directions.

That was the end of them. I think there was a shop vac used in the clean up.

Wow, that could be disastrous with an amp like my Moscode 600, which has big slots on the cover for ventilation purposes. A box of BBs spilling on top of that would fall right in and short out half the circuit board.
