I received this show in FLAC.... I can only assume that it stems from this copy, however, the db does not have any entries for FFP, and the show did not come with a text file.  I added the md5's for reference.  This show has been archived by blue7.org on 6-5-05

*This show is tracked for 1-80 min CD (or an 74 min overburn).
*It obviously can be split into two discs. The original split was between
*t7-t8 since the original discs were much longer w/o the pitch fix.

# Dedicated to Deborah and Sue

Notes and Fixes using SF4.5:
-Tape flip between t7 and t8
-The original tracks were noticeably flat and slow. To compensate for
the faulty analog generations/transfers, I increased the pitch by 190 cents
(almost one step) along with anti-alias filtering to decrease
  distortion during software resampling.
-Applied a paragraphic EQ hiss filter to reduce hiss above 8 kHz by 20 dB.
-Normalized disc to 98%.
-Retracked disc so that each song begins at the start of the track.
-As with all shows I've done, I may have missed some things (ie, pops, clicks, etc).
If so, please let me know so that I can fix them up asap.

Manufacturer News / Re: Radian LM10n planar driver and dspNexus
« Last post by Nick B on November 30, 2023, 12:24:54 PM »
Nick,
The LT3.2 was developed to be used with either a monopole or dipole radiation pattern.  The standard setup is either with or without the waveguide.  This would be for a sealed cabinet speaker as the rear wave from the tweeter is absorbed by material in the rear cup.

Dipole for open baffle operation gives a more spacious sound with a figure of 8 radiation pattern that I think works well in a room, but easier to keep side wall reflections down.  Having diffusion behind the open baffle drivers adds to the ambience and gets rid of direct rear reflections that can interfere with imaging.

Fun stuff!
The best reflected (rear) wave diffusion is achieved with hemispherical diffusers.  2D diffusers Rob the soundstage of height.

Ergo: Mr. T  ... thank you Trung.  :thumb:
Dave,
Thanks for the addition.  Will most likely be getting Greg to make more of the Mr T's soon.

Nick,
I will be finding out about the LT3.2 as I get them into the baffle.  If they surpass the BG NEO3-PDR tweeters in sound quality, they will be my new favorites.  The LM10n planar mid has surpassed the BG NEO10's for me in their sound quality.

When Danny is smiling after a demo with just a pair of LM10n's and two 3x12 servo subs and we have both heard Line Force speakers in his old room, I know progress has been made. :)

Rich,

That is high praise indeed if Danny likes the sound and also your comments as you’ve heard so many good speakers over the years. I am quite curious how this comes out 😊

Geetarz Comments:

Some things do get better with age, and the 2000 "CSNY2K" tour was a personal favorite.  This, to me, is the cream of the crop, and one of my personal all-time favorite "Desert Island" discs.

The 2000 tour featured new takes on old classics, and somehow bridged the ages, bringing old and new into a harmonious, rocking whole.

The first years of the 21st Century were also a "golden age" of ALD recordings, before their alternate uses became more widely known and many venues shut the technology down.  There are quite a number of ALDs from the CSNY2K tour - some of which, sadly, are still in the clutches of hoarders.  This one, luckily, saw the light of day.

ALD recordings of course have their technical limitations, including reduced dynamic range, lack of bass, and attenuated high end.  Luckily the Professor at 3BR was able to work his sonic magic on this recording, and really bring it to life.

If you're into vocal harmonies, loud crunchy guitar, and close-miked soundboards - this is sonic heaven.

Beyond recommended ... ESSENTIAL!

Lineage:

ALD = Assistive Listening Device [This is essentially an in-house FM broadcast]

This was recently shared by ademotte on June 6th 2016 and it has a real nice sound.--thanks--

Even though it sounded good there were distractions.
So many technical issues that needed to be addressed.
Loud static bursts in places, distortion, plenty of pops and thumps, numerous short gaps and the volume was so low it was hard to hear.

Decided to fix these problems so spent the day with headphones on.....

07. Old Man Trouble [15.732 KHz tone removed, remove thumps, gap removed, thump removed, 3 clicks removed]
08. Cathedral [15.732 KHz and an 11.25 KHz tones removed, break up patched over, 4 clicks removed, remove gap]
09. Suite: Judy Blue Eyes [15.732 KHz tone removed, remove thumps, remove gap, multiple ticks removed]
10. 7th Inning Stretch (fades) [15.732 KHz tone removed, remove thumps, remove gap]

Disc 3
01-Let's Roll [15.732 KHz tone removed, remove gap, multiple breakup removed-patched over, thumps removed, gap removed]

05-Woodstock [15.732 KHz tone removed, gap removed, clicks removed, gap removed, thumps removed]
06-Rockin' In The Free World w/ Star Spangled Banner ending [15.732 KHz tone removed, crackling removed, 2 more gaps removed, click removed, crackling removed, click removed,
07-encore break with band introduction [15.732 KHz tone removed, a couple volume drops in the applause removed, a couple thumps removed]
08-Long May You Run [15.732 KHz tone removed, gap removed, crackling removed, remove crackling, remove pop, remove thump]
*-not sure why the tracking is like this---[it had an overlap and it's not like that anymore]

continued repair details:
all tracks combined with additional gaps and glitches removed between tracks at that time
Harmonic balancing - equalization
Stray peaks reduced and volume increased by an additional 3dB (for a total of 13dB)
60 Hz tone removed
broadband eq touch up
Final glitch repairs removed another hundred or so noises missed the first time around but certainly some may have escaped my attention.

Remaining issues:
The applause sections seemed processed so there was likely some noise reduction performed at some point.
A low level electrical noise is still in the background and I was unable to figure out how to remove it.
Not bad but it is there.
****************

Easier to listen to without so many distractions and at this higher volume level.
It's not perfect but it's a lot better.

Thanks to the original taper and to jagraham for sharing this nice capture in July 2006.
Also to ademotte for posting his version at the Dime recently.

General DIY / Re: Add spikes to your Pangea Vulcan rack shelves

It looks like there is a new kid on the block.

https://stackaudio.co.uk/auvaeq/

All the reviewers I've read/watched says this betters the IsoAcoustics.  Can't be sure without trying them, but I am sure this will sound better than the spikes I am playing around with, which is essentially technology from the 90s (or 80s), right?

Two reviewers are saying the Stack Audio speaker footers bested even the Townshends.

I think the prices are comparable or just a bit higher compared to the equivalent IsoAcoustics products when you factor in shipping or VAT.

$204 for 4 or around $158 for 3 versus around $180 for three IsoAcoustics Indigos.

The technology is so similar to IsoAcoustics that if you call IsoAcoustics they wiLL probably dispeLL stack audio as being a copy of theirs of sorts  (and possibly in violation of any patent if there is a patent). I'm not about to do any homework right now because I've got my own set of issues going on.

Furthermore, I'm not sure I completely agree, nor am I implying that I disagree, but I think it depends on the circumstance that their statement  "Unlike loudspeakers that *should* be positioned precisely and *held rigidly*..." is true or false. When a transducer produces sound it moves and that's a fact/physics.

Beyond my commentary I'm not "poo-pooing"  Auva EQ.

EDIT: IsoAcoustics claims (albeit vaguely) their isolation design is patented:
