Hey Malloy

I'm a Depeche Mode fan as well but I won't be seeing them live this go around. I missed out on the presales and all the good tickets at decent prices are gone by my area. I'll see if I can score tickets on the secondary market. I'm hoping someone will not be able to make the show near me as it is a Sunday.

As for the new album I'm good with it after listening to it a lot. I know the subject matter is a little different than previous albums so it took some getting used to. I think lots of songs from this album will sound wonderful live.

At last another fan! I've been a long time fan myself from the 'Pretty Boy'  :) era right up to the Violator album (?) but somehow stopped listening after that. I bought tickets on the day they went on sale but only got a resale from Stubhub.

Pretty excited as I've never seen them live.

Oh Malloy. You are missing out. You are like my other friend who gave up after Violator. DM's album Songs Faith Devotion is MUST listen at least.

You are also in for a treat seeing DM live. Christian Eigner on the drums adds so much more to their performance. Take a listen

Sorry for not replying sooner. I missed your reply.

Ah. I've heard of this album but never heard all the songs.

When did they get this drummer? I've been gone for so long it seems.  :duh I can't even remember when Martin began playing a real guitar live!

Hey Malloy

Christian has been playing with Depeche Mode live since 1997 but I really think he put his stamp on Depechde Mode's live sound since early to mid 2000s concerts. I swear during the MSG show Christian REALLY put a solid oomph on their performance. It was such a highlight for me.

For me when I compared Alan Wilder's drumming for the Songs Of Faith Devotion album vs. Christian's drumming on those same tracks it is night and day difference for the better. Christian's playing on Walking In My Shoes, Rush or any of the new tracks is SO good. I'm really bummed now I won't be able to get to his concert. Have fun.

:thumb: Man! You were absolutely right about Christian. Just saw them last night!  Incredible drumming. I've almost forgotten what proper 'rock' drumming at concert levels sounded like. Sounded like a drum machine, only better! He was able to re-create the percussive, engine-like background to "Stripped'.

After 30+ years got to see them live. Dave was very animated. Incredible how he is able to keep up the energy, considering how long their tour is.

Martin sang a piano duet Somebody and A Question of Lust. Was hoping for "But not tonight' or "Shake the Disease', but who am I to complain?!!  Will try to post some links or my blurry pics.
