Persichetti is one of my favorite composers. These are the first compositions of his that I heard, back in the 80s on an easy listening type classical radio station in Boston. This is the CD they played:
I need to rerip that into my NAS so I can listen to it again. It totally blows away this stiff and mechanical performance of Mr. Lewis. But it's still nice to hear the melodies and harmonies again. This music (if you can call it that) will drive any normal audiophile out of the room in seconds, guaranteed! Metallic twang, abundant dissonance, the endless repetitive DIN of modern atonal classical music. Ahhhhhh, so gooood..
