If You Like Asian Food And Dabble In The Kitchen...
« on: June 02, 2021, 02:03:04 PM »
I’ve seen a few reviews and suggestions for these ‘starter packs’. I’m going to order the ‘Try Everything’ set, and I’ll report back my findings. Personally, I love most any Asian cooking, and most any culture’s food, so this looks interesting.

Jim me as well. All about the ingredients. Meaning the best quality Soy, Oyster Sauce, Fish sauce etc. Prep is key. High temp better Chinese food.

Yeah- high temps are where it’s at for Chinese/Asian. I wish I could get a wok burner installed in an area that was easy to maintain- high temps spatter all over and I’m a neat freak in my house.

From real Chinese it's hot super hot, insane amounts of salt. But I think most of the salt is evaporated because there's lots of water used to basically steam stuff while also frying it.

Very interesting, Jim. I’ve always enjoyed Asian cuisine as well, but with very limited exposure though. I’ll be curious as to the different seasonings, what types of oils, etc. As I don’t like to spend time just cooking for myself, I’ll live a bit vicariously through you  :D🍱

You will need, Dark Soy, Fish sauce, Sesame Oil, Oyster Sauce, Hoisin Sauce, White pepper, Soy Oil or rendered pork fat. Look for Pearl River Brand. Have on hand, white wine, rice wine, rice wine vinegar.
