Title: Lyngdorf TDAI-1120
Post by: malloy on November 28, 2022, 08:15:46 AM
Has anyone heard this or any of their products?

https://lyngdorf.steinwaylyngdorf.com/lyngdorf-tdai-1120/

I am quite intrigued by the different EQ settings/voicings.

Seems like a bargain for what it offers - streamer, amp, RoomPerfect, etc.

Paul,

I’ve not heard any negative comments about any Lyndorf equipment. I didn’t see Qobuz availability and I’m wondering why. I also didn’t see the price… Maybe I missed it, but can you tell us what it is?

Hi Nick,

The price is around $2,400. Some open box units can be had for under $2K.

This reviewer says that he used Qobuz with the Lyngdorf.

I think you have to have Roon. The Lyngdorf is Roon ready.

Paul,

Seems a good bargain for all that your getting. I heard about TacT room correction years ago. Is this wishful thinking or are you seriously considering it?

Nick,

Apologies! Got too busy to reply! Might consider it seriously for next year. I'd already blown my budget this year after buying the tube amp I now have.

I've been looking for a streamer for the past year and this thought that if I spent a little more, I'd get a lot more - in this case a streamer and an amp!

Been looking at streamer/amps and around the same price (around $2K) you have this, the different NADs, the Naim Atom (around $3,000, but around $2K++ used or open box) and then you have the Hifi Rose below:

From a looks perspective and wow factor, the HiFi Rose beats them all, but I am quite sure the touch screen will need replacing at some time in the future. Not sure about the sound, either. It is reportedly very good, especially for the price, but there are no direct comparisons to any of the others I've listed.

On another note, THE HiFi Rose gets exceptional reviews. I believe Steve Huff reviewed it on YouTube

Sorry he reviewed the 150 :duh

Paul,

Devialet has some good products including the Pro 140. It may be above your budget, though, as a used one goes for about $3,000

Hi Nick,

Checked it out. Very understated...looks very sophisticated. Of course, it's French!

How do they get that much technology in a thin box? Preamp, amp, DAC, streamer, phono stage in a 1.5 inch high case.

Price is above what I would consider. But this can be a stealth purchase - no one would know that I bought it, except when someone checks the finances! I can hide it under some magazines and weekly mail.

IMHO the key to buying any server,DAC, Streamer is that it must be upgradeable by the user. Future proof so to say. Better is better but at what cost ?
For me main source till that shiny little disc. Streaming can be VG and convenient but not equal to transport/DAC in my system. Just depends on combo used.

Hi Paul,

My hat is off to you for such innovative thinking!  Your plan will succeed, albeit for a very brief period of time. I envision a frying pan to the back of the head 😶‍🌫️ will quickly snap you back to reality. Pls check your health coverage immediately

Hi Charles. What are you using as your CD player ( i.e. transport) to your DAC? I did check your signature line, and I can't figure it out based on what you have listed.

Curious because I think that your Merason DAC has an aes/ebu input. Not many transports have that output capability (EDIT: which is the best; sorry guys i2s isn't standardized or been around long enough to make that claim). If you're in the market for a serious transport, I'm selling my Emotiva ERC 3 CD player (which has aes/ebu digital out) This is an exception to the rule as far as overall emotiva quality is concerned. I'd keep it myself. Only reason I'm getting rid of it is I've abandoned the CD format.

Put the ERC-3 player/transport against a $10,000 esoteric CD player in side-by-side comparison, and you'll be a believer. Most companies utilize a boatload of marketing bs, but check out (watch/listen to his YouTube video) what Lonnie has to say about the ERC3, unlike any of their other products mind you. Even their latest ERC4 player isn't as good as their  ERC3.

Best

Hal

EDIT: side note for the curious, the emotiva ERC 3 spins a CD at close to 1000 revolutions per minute, approximately three and a half times faster than most other CD player. The downside in doing so is that there is a very small amount of noise that can be heard from the motor if you put your ear right next to the player. This is not discernible at all from the listening position. The advantage in spinning at the speed that they do is that it has significant error correction capability *far* beyond that of most any other CD player I've ever encountered, and I've encountered a lot. I'm giving away 3000 CDs with the player, which doesn't include the 7000 that I had prior that I've already given away, and have used/heard on dozens of CD players from Sony Walkman, to oppo, to marantz, to esoteric, to mark Levinson, Sony ES series and other brands I don't even remember the name of.
