Ella Fitzgerald: The Lost Berlin Tapes



Tidal MQA 96

Another of today's new releases.

Like most tapes that have been "lost" for decades, there is a reason. While this album is enjoyable from a musical perspective the SQ is just not up to snuff. Ella fans will like it for the sake of collection completeness, but if you are looking for a good live Ella album, stick with "Mack the Knife - Ella in Berlin" which was released two years prior to this recording.

Recorded during the 2017-2018 world tour of the same name. I went with my son top the the show on Long Island. I was an outstanding show in person and this album does a great job recapturing it. Even though I have only heard it via streaming I was still very impressed with the SQ.  :thumb:

I think there just might be a Blu-Ray copy of this show in my future.  8)

OK, yesterday my wife asked me if I wanted to come for a ride with her to a craft store that just happened to be right across the street from Looney Tunes..... well DUH!!!

I walked in and the first thing I saw was a 180g 3 LP set of this album and you know that I just couldn't walk out of the store without it.  :roll:

From the 2018 tour when Glen Frey's son joined the group to take his father's place.

Sounded good through earbuds and my phone, but of course the real test will be when I can play it through the main system
