A request for the NY folks

(1/1)

djdube525:
Hi guys...

Happen to be in NY (midtown) this weekend (my wife is here for a presenters conference...

Was wondering if y'all had any must see clubs. We're at the Iridium now waiting for the Ravi Coltrane Quartet to come on.

Looking forward to any other suggestions...

Thanks!

Dave

If you will be there Sunday afternoon and enjoy jazz. you need to go to Harlem to see Parlor Jazz.

Marjorie Eliot, delightful young woman in her 70's or 80's, hosts a jazz quartet in her apartment every Sunday.  Everyone that has seen the show reports how wonderful it is. It's free, too, although they glady accept donations.

If you're downtown is the 55 bar is usually good, and cheap. Sandy Sasso, singer. I never heard of him.

Chris Potter is at Vanguard now, modern, brainy, hot, electric. Tenor star.  Good acoustics and vibe ;)

Kenny Barron Quintet Sats. at Jazz Standard, that's where I'd go.  http://www.jazzstandard.net/red/index.html  Pricey at $30 per set.
