Get Better Sound - book
« on: September 14, 2010, 09:36:56 PM »
OK this is not a record, but it is being sold by a record dealer, so I am posting it here, (Rich, feel free to move this if you think it will fit in better somewhere else).

Chad is selling a book called:

From the write-up in the ad it seems like it would be a good book. I was wondering if anyone here @ AN had seen it and if so what did you think?   :-k

Strange - Chad wants $29.70 for it, but if you look it up on Amazon, the best price you can find is a bit over $98!   Go figure!  :duh

Amazon is a ripoff, it is still in print, self published by the author.

Chad's price is good, $5 less than publisher's summer sale. I have hardback.  It's an interesting and entertaining read. He is famous for his setup ability. Mfgs hired him to tweak their show demos. It is a book of tweaks, with some good theory and new perspectives on old problems. Helps to value one tweak against another for the best bang. He details his speaker and chair placement procedure, which is probably the most valuable thing in there. You can borrow mine if you want.

Hey Rich, there's nothing wrong with Amazon. Amazon isn't selling it for that price, there are sellers who have the book that are using Amazon as a way to advertise that they have the book for sale. Now if some poor soul buys it for that price, without looking else-where on the web, well... caveat emptor...
There's one seller there who's asking $230.86

Yes, of course, you are right Barry!!!! I did not proof my words. I buy tons of stuff from Amazon and love them. I meant to say that the private sellers on Marketplace will charge what they can, which is also how it should  be. Saying it is a ripoff is only because the book is still available new from the publisher. If it weren't I would be glad that there are copies available for $100. Sorry for the FIM.
