I downloaded Musichi and installed it on my Roon server. I haven't used it much yet, but it seems like a nice system for picking and sorting music, especially classical. Much more powerful than I need actually.
The problem is that it can't stream directly to my NAA like Roon does. Musichi wants to play to the local Windows default sound device. So I've been trying to find workaround. If you set Musichi player to external player mode, then it can submit a m3u playlist to HQPlayer running on same machine, which can stream playback to NAA. HQPlayer can also do the DSP that I would hate to give up from Roon. The scheme is a bit cloogey in that if you switch to this external player mode in Musichi, then you can only select the music in Musichi, transport control and volume is done on the HQPlayer GUI.
If you do this external player scheme, then you also can't use Musichi's client server version, which means no tablet remote control app (Windows only.
) I guess you could Remote Desktop. So there are some glaring deficiencies compared to Roon in the new technology dept.
Another app called Muso is a "centralised information repository" not a player. But it can also submit selected songs to HQPlayer via m3u. It also looks promising.
