Marshall Tucker and Kansas
« on: August 15, 2011, 10:55:49 AM »
Anyone planning on attending the free show at Eisenhower park this Friday night? Starts at 7:30PM.

Weather permitting we plan on getting there about 5PM and bring some sandwiches or a bucket of chicken or something similar. Hope to get a decent seat, although my daughter wants to hang there all day to sit front row (she's a big Kansas fan).

I gotta check on the home calendar first, but the price is certainly right! :-)  I'll let you know.  Are just you and your daughter are going?

Probably Laura, Kelly and myself. If it's raining in the afternnon we'll probably pass on it and deal with the hysterics from Kelly for making that call. But I'm not going to sit there in the rain.

If it is raining in the afternoon there won't be that big of a crowd there so you could probably put off the decision until game time and see what the weather is like at the last minute. At least then if it is still raining at 7 you will only have to hear an hour's worth of whining instead of having it start at 2 in the afternoon.  (Been there, done that.)

God put on a pretty neat light show just as Marshall Tucker was finishing up. The parks department got scared and told everyone to leave the hill due to lightning. It did look pretty bad for a while, but the storm split north and south and left us a little wet but no lightning overhead.

Here's some pictures from the show. First Marshall Tucker and a few wet "friends" who shared our umbrellas

All the "special friends" left when the rain started so when we came back they let us into the VIP area right in front of the stage. Dyuring "Fight Fire" someone threw a bra onstage. You see the violinist/guitarist in the last picture with it hanging from his guitar playing. It was a pretty large one, to be sure.

Here's Kansas
