Title: NYPhil Live at Lincoln Center
Post by: richidoo on September 18, 2007, 08:10:50 PM
The NY Philharmonic's season opening concert (http://www.pbs.org/livefromlincolncenter/?campaign=pbshomefeatures_4_livefromlincolncenter_2007-09-18) was tonight on PBS. I caught the second half, and it was really great. It will re-air on Friday early morning here in Raleigh, maybe it will re-air where you live too. Second half was Dvorak 7th Symphony, 1st half (which  I missed) was Yo Yo Ma playing Dvorak Cello Concerto.

Last year's opening night gala was mostly Beethoven - Egmont and 3rd. That was a great performance too. Lorin Maazel is an amazing conductor with a great symphony. Try to catch it on the re-air. Sometimes they broadcast the rehearsal also as a separate show.

I have last year's on DVD and will record this one too, if you have an urgent need to see it - PM me. ;)
