shep,

I've been a fan of transmission line design for 35 years starting with I. M. (Bud) Fried's stuff.  I love the fast/deep bass with clear midrange.

If you're interested in transmission line designs, recommend you visit: http://brinesacoustics.com/

Bob there does a good job explaining the concepts, with no need for humblehifi's old school trial and error approach.  And he offers plans or flats for DIYers as well as fully custom built/veneered finished speakers at very competitive prices (that's how I got the original FTA-2000's built for me).

Personally I prefer a tapered design, if nothing else to reflect backwaves (that can muddy the midrange) away from the driver.

Thanks. I couldn't find them because they are in the archive section! I found several sites that sell them for about 1400$ The model below might be just as good and cheaper. The newer models have no prices that I can discover.

Thanks, I wouldn't have thought of German speakers. No reason not to. I don't see a Celan 800on their site nor any prices. Pounds as in £?

Yes I do not have that pound thingie. Click on Celan then find the 800 series, its there.

charles

Well I'm sure glad that 600 to 4000 pounds is the price and not the weight.

Thanks Face.

Looks interesting. I thought you said you were done with DIY speaker building

It's a gradual withdrawal.  ;)

Not just for you Rich. We would all miss following along on the adventure.  :D
