Title: A trip down memory lane. Thoughts on Advent 5012W sound quality

Hey you guys.

I just got a pretty good condition pair of speakers from my uncle. They are Advent 5012W speakers. I believe these are the very last of the Pre Jensen speakers. What are your thoughts or memories on these speakers and their sound quality? I'm thinking about paying to have these speakers re-furbished. So far with a Rives test CD the mids and highs sound really good on these. The bass is so so probably because of the surrounds. From reading on line they say they are natural sounding. I'm hoping to pair these with a lowered power tube amp because with solid state power they get pretty loud.

   A classic, well worth the effort. the best surround guy around is Scott in Douglaston.
    My Son still has his and not ready to give up.

Replacing surrounds is not rocket science. If these are rotted, you should have little problem finding replacements.
I'd make this a DIY project, especially since these are not high end/high dollar speakers.
