Post by: richidoo on December 23, 2015, 07:00:23 PM
A new hi-tek DSD DAC from PS Audio. List price $1300.00, plus $400 trade in allowance! :D  I think I might get one of these in the spring.

Take and try all three.  However, the MINI will serve a total different purpose.  I'd also recommend you try the Vega and see what you think.  All easy to try too.

Only 20 lbs.   .
One of those prices  I'd buy that without hearing it.

We'll gather a batch of DACs for the March g2g. I'm also considering DDDAC (diy) as there will be a forthcoming DSD version.

EDIT:    Also Schitt Yggdrasil looks excellent!

Almost double the price if you take into account the trade in. I spoke to PS Audio and they will take certain other brands as trade in

So does this convert all inputs to DSD (1x?  2x?), like the DirectStream does (I think)

The web site doesn't say so but kinda hints at it.

(Edit - OK I guess it doesn't based on the prominent statements on their web site about how the DirectStream does)

You could also get a DAC for $200. Depends on your budget.

Reading around, is seems like the Schiit dacs are the current flavor of the month. Yggy is supposed to be fab.

I've never heard one but am curious to know if anyone has heard a dac at the equivalent price range that bettered a corresponding Schiit dac head-to-head.

The Schitt line is really good. One of our club members has a bitfrost. really good stuff there. Kaboom for the buck IMO.

I've had several of my customers and friends tell me that The Yggdrasil is "the Schitt", pun intended. One of them has the latest full bomber PS Audio Direct Stream DAC and says the Yggdrasil "gives it a run the the money" in SQ.

I really, really want to hear it.  I'm not a "detail", hi-rez, latest digital whatever guy.  All I expect is for a DAC to make music, move me and make me tap my foot.  There are so many iterations of "good" out there in audio land that are over achievers.  I like those. Make me cry 😢

Hi, guys.

It just so happens that I have been spending a fair bit of time looking into DACs recently. However, I have not checked the PS Audio NuWave DAC yet, but I shall.

I'm mighty interested in the Schiit Gungnir Multibit, the Nuprime DAC-10, and the Gustard X20.

BTW Dave, so long as nothing derails our plans, Melody and I will be in Albuquerque in May. We may be there for up to one month. I fully expect to be in possession of a new already burned in DAC. I thought you might find this interesting.

Thanks for this thread.

Michael
