The Look of Love
Stanley Turrentine (Author) | Format: Audio CD

Another deep groove BN, but not as 'pleasing' as the last ST I listed. More orchestration and less soloing. Not working for me.

I think that The Spoiler in 1966 was the last good album that Turrentine recorded for Blue Note.  In 1965 Alfred Lion sold Blue Note to Liberty Records and by 1967 he was out of the music business in retirement.  After Lion was gone Blue Note went down hill rather quickly.

My problem here is that the 1st jazz piece I ever acquired was Stanley's "Don't Mess with Mr. T." on CTI. This is the CD I bring to GTGs to check equipment response, not because it's a great recording but simply because I know the music so well. Hell, my Pandora station for Jazz is called Stanley Turrentine Radio. So, a so-so ST outing is especially disheartening to me. But I'll survive.

1) The "Alternate Blues" - Pablo on Vinyl
2) Bob Dylan - "Nashville Skyline" - Sundazed vinyl
3) Nirvana - "MTV Unplugged in NY" - original Geffen on White Vinyl

Pretty Diverse this afternoon, but all good... decreased dampening on WT arm... more alive sounding... getting there!
