Cat Stevens: Tea for the Tillerman

Analogue Productions 200g LP

The first release from Acoustic Sounds new in house record plant and I have to say, I have been a big fan of Chad's reissues in the past, but he really nailed this one. I have been listening to this album since it was first released and I heard things I never realized were there, even on the MoFi UHQR pressing. This one's a keeper. I can't wait for Teaser and the Firecat.

More details in the Tea for the Tillerman thread:

Ben Webster: Gentle Ben

Analogue Productions 200g LP

Another first rate LP from Chad's new plant. I've heard this before on CD and was always impress by the quality of the reocrding, but this new LP release just takes it to another level. Geogreous tone a wide and deep soundstage and rock solid pinpoint imaging. Oh and did I mention great music to boot!  :thumb:

IF these first two releases are any indication of what they will be producing in the future, I am going to be sending a lot of money to Kansas.  #-o

A great recording on what I consider to be the best sounding digital release available.  That said, I am on a mission to find an original minty vinyl copy.

This 2 CD package included everything that Stanley Turrentine recorded for the Blue Hour sessions with The Three Sounds for Blue Note in 1960.  Highly recommended.

I love Turrentine, 1 disc I bring to all GTGs for testing is 'Don't Mess with Mr. T". Think I'll put some on.

Meanwhile, 2 days of listening to old Tenor Sax players has also resulted in 2 days of listening to Harry 'Sweets' Edison, I just listened to Prez' version of "You're Getting To Be A Habit With Me " 3 times, as much to hear Sweets as Prez.  Nice recommendation J.

Now, I have to search for somemore work by Sweets.

Billie Holiday used him a lot. She's not too hard to take.

This wonderful compilation of great Hot Lips Page tunes from Sony/Legacy can usually be found for less than $10.  Awesome music.

Sorry to hear that Rich....but feel free to try a search.... :thumb:

Thanks Chris... ALIS looks great, but still a long drive. Lets try Wake County Public Library:

http://wakeipac.co.wake.nc.us/ipac20/ipac.jsp?session=1313JLX133118.5676&menu=search&aspect=subtab24&npp=30&ipp=20&spp=20&profile=wcpl&ri=1&source=~%21horizon&index=.A2&term=jim+hall&x=0&y=0&aspect=subtab24

Now that's a familiar sight!  :x

Richland County Library here in humble Columbia, South Carolina has three copies of the Jim Hall CD.  Of course I live in Lexington county, about a quarter mile from the Richland line, so I can't benefit.
