The Panasonic listed above have a 10mm lead spacing and are very good caps. I would use a bit of hot melt glue after soldering them in. Not much is required to provide a strain relief.

Are the Panasonics going to be a better cap than the original?

Very likely. They are quite good and I've never had a problem with them.

Ordered the Panasonics today. Should have them by the weekend so I can be playing music in no time.

Bleh, I didn't fix the hum, just managed to clean up the power stage so that the real problem could hum even better.

Tracked it down to another bad cap though (small one this time) with a bulging top and goo coming out of it. Too bad I missed that one because shipping is more than the capacitor itself.

Guess I'll order more parts and get it fixed  :duh

Too bad Nick!!! I know the feeling.

Maybe buy enough to replace all the electros, especially if you intend to keep it. They do fail over time.

I guess I could do that, but these are going in the Harmon Kardon 5.1 receiver, if it were the Pioneer or Technics I would probably just buy all of them and refurbish the whole thing at once. I'll do the one more in the HK and if it doesn't fix it then I'll give in and see if a professional wants to take a look.

Man, that sucks.. really sorry to hear it, Nick.  At least you'll be working all week while the other cap(s) are on their way.

I really enjoy listening to music.
