Time for a cooler amp...
« on: July 03, 2024, 05:44:31 PM »
Usually in June or early July it's time to move the tube amps to the storage shed and put in something cooler. It's been in the 104 range for several days, and anything to reduce heat in the house is welcome.   And when the 107-110  days come (and they're coming soon), you just have to stay in and hide from it.
So I've been listening to my little TDA 7297 Folsom amp... and it's really good.  I've got some cables to review, so I've got to let it settle in, but I'd kinda forgotten just how detailed it is. It certainly can run with the big boys as far as sound.  :thumb:

Jeremy, is there a chance that you'll ever run another batch of those boards?

Yeah, that 7297 amp is really special.  The one I built and sent to Danny started a thing and it ended up in the hands of John S. who has a pair of Super V's.  Evidently it kicked an expensive, much revered amplifier's ass.

Didn't Jeremy do another amp as well? I read all the great comments over at AC.

That's what I thought. But some of the components are no longer available?

You lost me on your response. The other is a chip amp with board and some miscellaneous parts, right?

I disavow any knowledge of out of stock parts. The closest thing to that is having to order one regulator from newark, as far as I know. On occasion you order a part from Digikey or Mouser if the other does not have it temporarily. This is as ordinary as breathing at this point. So saying there are parts you cannot get does not mean anything to me other than nonsense claims.

No. There is nothing misc about it. It has a discrete front end that controls the output devices that are chips.

My friend Brad has the higher power 7293 amp almost finished.  I'll report on it when it is finished.

Ok. Thought I'd read a couple of years ago on another site(s) that one or more parts weren't available. That's about all I can remember......

That will be fun to hear his opinion.
