Title: Woofer Amp
Post by: jimbones on October 22, 2016, 02:51:11 PM
i  recently decided to go the BiAmp route with my speakers. So I purchased a mindsp and a Crown XLS 1002. This Crown powers a woofer (not a sub per se)  Well it hasn't worked so well to this point. The power amp sounds horrible. It sounds like the input sensitivity is low as I can't get much out of the amp even though it is rated at over 200wpc. It has no b**ls. Any ideas ?

1. Cabinet alignment?
2. Break In amp/woofer
3. RTFM ;)
4. dsp EQ

Did you set the input sensitivity to 0.775V for high gain?

Are the gain controls all the way up?

1 sealed
2 woofer is 4 years old and is in the same physical config for that time other than a passive xo.
3 hmmm?
4 minidsp sucks, zero support. I will never buy another one of their products.

making some progress. I was able to find gain settings on the mindsp. That helped. Now I am experimenting with the frequencies and slope. The problem is that everytime I change the  slope I have to consider the polarity in relation to the mid/tweeter. been swapping then polarity all day  :duh

You'll get it Jim!! Speakers rarely jump to. You gotta fight for every inch.

Jim,
Are you using something like Room EQ Wizard to make the speaker measurements?  Or are you using the UMIK-1 with miniDSP?
