Hey , the full list price on those is $1299 which puts then in the same general area as KEF LS_50s the it is possible that they could be good. Are they, well that is a whole other story. (There are plenty of speaker that sell in the same price range as LS-50s that are not as good as the KEFs)

Maybe- but look closely at the net weight and gross weight- gross is 60 kg- 132 pounds. Net is 44 kg- 97 pounds.
Height is 22.5” x 10.6” wide. Weight vs size just doesn’t seem right.
Then there’s the $713.00 shipping on a $975.00 speaker pair. So they’re really $1688.00 a pair. I smell a rat.
Maybe I’m just too skeptical, and maybe the specs are just mistaken. Be careful Dave.

And the two biggest risks are A) I doubt you will find anywhere in the lower 48 where you can audition them, so you will have no idea at all what they sound like until after you pay for them and B) Although it says you have a 75 day money back guarantee it does not say free return shipping, so in order to get a $975 refund you will need to spend $713 so ship them back to China. :shock:

He contacted the Chinese company and they said the only way they would issue him a refund was if he shipped the dead unit back to them. He took it to the same carrier that shipped it to him and they wanted $130 to ship it back. he was told the $20 to get it to him was a special rate negotiated with the factory that was not available to the general public. So it was going to cost him $130 shipping to get a $100 refund. :duh
Luckily he paid for it on an AMEX card so he filed a claim with them and they reversed the charges on his card becasue it was DOA. But if he paid another way he might have been SOL.

Don't get me wrong. I would not consider the gamble. It is just my natural curiosity as to whether they sound good or suck. My gut tells me the latter. I thought Jordan 50mm modules would suck and I was way wrong.

Lack of high quality crossover caps, inductors, resistors? Any one heard if one can reach these parts?

For what they are getting for these with the shipping there are several well regarded name brand speakers that you could get for a similar price, you wouldn't have to modify them right out of the box and you could find a way to audition them before forking over any cash.

And since these are basically no-name speakers you would have to keep in mind that if you decided you didn't like them, or at some point just got the itch to upgrade some gear (and when does that ever happen to any of us? :roll:), the resale value of these speaker's would likely be next to nothing.

They probably are. But, always a gamble. Normally Chinese brands are dirt cheap, but this is not. So, might be another one of those unknown brands (at least here) that offer great value.
Many years ago, I first heard Aurum Cantus speakers (with ribbon tweeters) at a show. I would have thought they were 3x or more as expensive with the way they were built and sounded. They totally trounced some products of equal pricing from establishment brands like B&W, Acoustic Energy, Monitor Audio, etc. Beautiful, stunning cabinets. The caps inside were Mundorf Supremes that came stock with the speaker!
Same with Cayin electronics (Zhuhai Spark), which I own.
The question is, how on earth did you come across this, Dave?

I was searching for high sensitivity, smaller speakers and under the "images" search, there they were.

If you want, I can send you a pair of Merrill Zigma hornet drivers. I've got a pair built out in my surround system. I set them up for a friend to listen. He was taken by how they played classical guitar (they really do that one thing very well), so he told be to look for a pair of drivers to build him a pair.... I bought the drivers, but he never followed up. They've been sitting for a while.
They are just fine with a small handful of watts.

The one you linked has a really nice cabinet, but the claimed specs are audiophile fantasy world aka not reality.

I agree. Actually, I have found only one speaker brand that I liked, and I have heard some expensive ones.
I have checked out a chinese brand or two caps and they were not very good.

it's possible that some chinese gear like this is very good, especially considering the price.
red rose music (courtesy of mark levinson) sold speakers and amps that were very nice, but i didn't like the fact that he simply relabeled chinese speakers and electronics and priced them anywhere from 5 to 7 times the cost of the chinese-labeled equipment. i actually own a korsun u2 integrated amp (retailed for $250); i bought it for $150 shipped from overseas, (yes, it needs a step-up transformer in the usa). red rose music sold the exact same amp for $2000.
