Casino Royale - The Best Of James Bond by The Big Screen Orchestra streamed via Roon

I finally found the soundtrack and the recording is good…not great. A bit disappointing, but I sure enjoyed the music. It’s been years since I’ve listened to it.

16/44

That is the music from the movie, but not the Original Soundtrack and if fact the only song on the entire album that is from the Movies is cut 1.

Unfortunately I did not see the Original Soundtrack listed on Qobuz, Tidal nor Amazon HD.

I pulled out my copy of the VS CD and as I remembered it was hard but it was also rather flat and compressed soundstage wise. I have 3 LP versions, a Portuguese import, a Classic Records 200g LP and an original Colgems 3S pressing. All sound better than the CD. The Portuguese LP sounds similar to the CD soundstage wise, but is not as harsh. The Colgems and the Classic are both way better with the Classic having the edge in resolution while the Colgems has a little more natural staging. Both are excellent sounding, which is better is just a matter of your sonic preferences.
Remember, it's all about the music........

Yep, I've got several copies of the Colgems, and one Spanish pressing... all very good sound.
That was such a strange record... Colgems wasn't known for quality.  The recording engineer and mastering engineer are essentially unknown.  But they got it right for that one record.  I've heard they recorded it too hot- that it should have been driven into high distortion... but it didn't.

Thanks for setting me straight on the original soundtrack versus the movie. On occasion, I regret selling my turntable, but it was best as I’m into downsizing. Some of these CDs are pretty tough to listen to, but then there’s the convenience of using a remote to choose my favorite cuts.
