SN - Nice score. I  missed both those stores when I went to Albany.

One was Albany, the other in Troy.  They were both excellent. :thumb:

The other two places I stopped at in Albany (which will go un-named, unless someone PM's me) pitched a complete "shut-out" to me. :(

Now I have to get a VPI 16.5 to clean everything!

Those must be the 2 I went to,  :(

EDIT: Actually, I did pick up 4 titles from Last Vestige back in Nov when I was in Alb. Had to go back thru the 'what you bought' thread to refresh my memory. Getting old really bites it!

For $475, you wont do much better, I bought a 'scratch and dent' one for $500 and thought that was a good price.

Or have Pumpkinman teach you how to make one out of bits of string, tubing, conch shells and squirrel feces.

At Then and Now records in Miami, had some nice 6-eye releases by Gerry Mulligan, Dave Brubeck and Chet Baker, but all $30+ and 'iffy' condition. Did find a clean 6-eye Mulligan.

The Gerry Mulligan Quartet -What is There to Say?
Stanley Turrentine - Jubilee Shouts

The latter a clean, Blue Note double album reissue.

You should be able to get most minty Columbia 6-Eye jazz pressings for between $15 and $25 unless it is something exceptionally rare.  Most Dave Brubeck LPs I own on near mint Columbia 6-Eye mono pressings cost me about $20.

Gerry Mulligan did much of his best work on Pacific Jazz Records (including recordings with Chet Baker).  I have a bunch of them.  But he also did some nice recordings for EmArcy, Verve, and Columbia.

Thanks Jerome.

It's Miami - everything is extra pricey, even used vinyl it seems. :(

After a long time away from digital music I have decided to come back.  When I decided to dump digital I did not take into consideration the fairly large collection of classical music recordings I have that were transcribed from 4 track tape to 24bit/192KHz digital audio from High Definition Tape Transfers.  Some of these recordings are impossible to find on vinyl, and are even quite rare as used open reel tapes.  I have about 70 of them.  So I ordered an Oppo BDP-105 this morning.

To usher in my return to digital music I bought a download of Ricard Wagner's Die Walkόre, Georg Solti conducting the Vienna Philharmonic from Decca.  My favorite Wagner Ring cycle is Solti's, and I haven't heard another that can match the power of his, especially in Act III of Die Walkόre.

A Super Deluxe Edition was recently released on 18 CDs, and it also included the the entire cycle at 24bit/48KHz on one Blu Ray audio disc.  The price is about $240 on Amazon.com.  That seemed rather expensive to me, but I was interested in it because finding the Solti Ring Cycle on vintage minty Decca or London LP pressings has become an exercise in frustration.  A reviewer on Amazon mentioned that the 24bit files were available for download from HD Tracks so I decided to buy my favorite opera from The Ring and give it a try.  If I am happy with the sound quality then I will buy the remaining operas to complete the cycle.

Added a quite a few Dave Brubeck LPs to an already considerable collection.  My goal is to have every LP that Dave Brubeck recorded with Paul Desmond.  Still have four more to go.

I've always been a fan of Benny Golson, both in and out of the Jazztet.  The Ella Fitzgerald LP completes my collection on minty Verve vinyl of the Ella Fitzgerald song book recordings.

We had a Looney Tunes in Boston back in the day, most of my collection is from there, Jap reissue jazz cutouts. They opened around 1980 iirc. I walked past it last summer, it was recently shuttered. I wonder if they are related?
