Finally got back to Radioactive Records in Ft. Lauderdale, and scored some good stuff.

Seems a former A&R rep for Sony had come in 2 days before and sold off his collection. All the CBS Masterpiece reissues pictured are in pristine shape, all have the gold NOT FOR SALE TO THE PUBLIC stamp on them. All shiny, glossy black vinyl, little surface noise from what I sampled. The Take Five alone made the purchase worth it.

The rock titles were a throw-in, many I once had on cassette, long since gone. Also, all fairly clean.

nice haul Gene.

Just heard the Acoustic Sounds  45 RPM pressing of Take Five at Triode Pete's two nights ago. All I can say is "Holy Crap!"

Another one added to my "must have" list.

Thanks a lot Pete. I'll try to return the favor someday.

BTW, I just got an email saying that MoFi will be coming out with a two disc 45 RPM pressing of "Kind of Blue" in the near future.
Save those pennies boys.  8)

Second trip to Radioactive Records in Ft. Lauderdale in as many weeks, a little more restrained this time.

Have been looking for the Alabama Shakes for awhile, the Byrds is a NM copy to replace a VG- one I have, and I've been trying to start a Bob Mould/Husker Du collection for awhile, wish I could find a copy of Workbook.

A few more Jazz titles from the collection I pulled about 17 albums out of last week, not sure how I missed Milestones, a fav, it will replace the 3 copies I have all kinda beat, this is NM.

I just placed the following order with Acoustic Sounds...

Speakers Corner 180g Decca Reissues

Ernest Ansermet - Bizet: Carmen Suite, L'Arlesienne Suite
Ernest Ansermet - Tchaikovsky: Swan Lake
Ernest Ansermet - Music of Rimsky-Korsakov
Ernest Ansermet - Albeniz: Iberia/Turina: Danzas Fantasticas
Ernest Ansermet - Ravel: Sheherazade/Berlioz: Les Nuits d'ete
Pierino Gamba - Bizet-Sarasate: Carmen Fantaisie Op.25/ Ruggiero Ricci, violin

Speakers Corner 180g Mercury Living Presence Reissues

Antal Dorati - Liszt: Hungarian Rhapsodies 2 & 3/Enesco: Roumanian Rhapsodies 1 & 2

Speakers Corner 180g Philips Reissues

Igor Markevitch - Tchaikovsky: Symphony No. 4

Classic Records 200g RCA Living Stereo Reissues

Pierre Monteux - Dvorak: Symphony No. 2

Classic Records 200g Vanguard Reissues

Maurice Abravanel - Mahler: Symphony No. 2 'Resurrection'

Classic Records 200g Everest 35mm Series Reissues

Hugo Rignold - Khachaturian: Concerto for Piano and Orchestra
Anatole Fistoulari - Khachaturian: Gayne Ballet Suite

The Classic Records titles were an especially good value, as they were reduced in price to $25, down from the original $34.95 list.  Not all of them are marked down at Acoustic Sounds, and to be sure I have been a vocal critic of the quality of RTI's pressings, but at this price I felt it was worth taking a chance.  I have always been quite fond of Classic Records QUIEX SV-P 200g pressings when there are no pressing defects.  At any rate, they are worth checking out as Chad is trying to clear out some Classic Records reissue titles that were not especially good sellers.

Do I ever.  Unfortunately minty vintage Decca Ansermets have gotten insanely expensive.  I have several of them and remain convinced that those original Decca SXL pressings are some of the best sounding records ever pressed.

But Speaker's Corner has done a remarkable job with its Decca reissue series.  Their 180g vinyl LPs are pressed at Pallas, which in my view is pressing the highest quality vinyl on the planet today.
