Tom - congrats to Bobby on hitting the milestone.

And control yourself at PREX - puh-lease, what's that nonsense!

Heading to FL next week, and looking to hit RadioActive as they posted a bunch of Jazz in, though some folks at AC have also discovered them, so there's competition now.

I never see Mercury Living Presence vinyl though I always look for it.

Mercury Living Presence and RCA Living Stereo LPs are getting harder and harder to find. But interestingly enough when you do see them they have come way down in price. I think there are a couple it things in play with this. As to availability, I think most of the available old stock has already been swept up by collectors. The low hang fruit of stuff sitting in Grandma's attic is basically gone. People have also come to realize that not every release on these two labels was an audiophile golden nugget. Yes for the most part they are all at least very good, but not everyone is something that you would hock the family jewels to get a copy of. And of the dozen or so in each series that are truly exceptional, they have all been reissued on CD and high quality vinyl (and in most cases SACD as well) so unlike in the 90s the vintage LPs are not the only way to hear the material anymore. This has driven the prices for most titles down to the sub $10 range, with the rarer and more desirable titles price appropriately higher due to market demand. But this price drop has also negatively affected the supply of these LPs as dealers are no longer going out of their way to unearth them because they are no longer big ticket high margin items.

I would have bought more vinyl but Gene has been spending some of my money on scotch.

--Jerome

Buying less, but enjoying more, sounds like a good tradeoff to me.  :D

I never really though of Scotch as an audiophile tweak before.  :-k

You might be onto something Jerome.  8)

"I  never really though of Scotch as an audiophile tweak before."

Works for me.

Though in fairness, I've just bought my 2nd bottle of Bombay Sapphire Gin in 3 weeks as J. has me on a martini kick.

It made a nice combo last night, Sinatra on the tt and 2 'tini's.

Couldn't post what I was listening to as it gets difficult real quick to type after the 1st 'tini.  ;)

After the second 'tini you better switch to CDs. Safety first.

I've become quite fond of Manhattans.  Since it's Friday night I decided to treat myself to one...

Here's my list from Infinity

The Persuasuve Trombone of Urbie Green
Be Bop Deluxe - Drastic Plastic
Renaissance - Live at Carnegie Hall
Jeff Beck with the Jan Hammer Group Live
Beatles - Abbey Road
Tomita - The Firebird
Doobie Brothers - The Captain and Me
Fleetwood Mac - Runours
Kansas - Vinyl Confessions
Tubular Bells - Mike Oldfield

The Who - Tommy

Many of these are duplicates of ones I (and almost everyone else) has in their collection already. I'll clean them and check them out vs the copies I already own, keep the best ones for myself and give the dupes to my daughter for her newly growing collection.

Laugh and the world laughs with you. Cry and you'll have to blow your nose.

Saw the Blakey album posted on the RadioActive Records FB page Thursday, doubted it would last till Monday night, but it did - psyched! Found some other good things, a microgroove Riverside offering and a Sinatra collection of his Reprise stuff to go with the Columbia collection I got last month.

Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers – The Big Beat
Beyond the Blue Horizon by GEORGE BENSON
The Quota - Jimmy Heath (deep groove Riverside lp)
Nice and Easy - Frank Sinatra
Sinatra: The Reprise Years - (4 lp collection)
Hotel California - The Eagles
Flying Cowboys - Rickie Lee Jones
