Another batch of vintage jazz records...

Pete Rugolo - An Adventure in Sound - Reeds (Mercury)
Pete Rugolo - Music from Richard Diamond (Mercury)
Pete Rugolo - Rhythm Meets Rugolo (Mercury)

Went shopping last night, added Rugolo and Kenton to my list. Got some Kenton, couldn't find any of the above Rugolo works. The Silver Spring Crack house had 3 titles, I think they were;

10 Saxophones and 2 Basses, Mercury PPS 2023
Rugolomania, Columbia CL-689
Adventures in Rhythm, Columbia CL-604

I didn't take any as I had a good haul, but wonder if they might have been worth grabbing.

Jerome?

Lester Young - Pres Lives, The savoy Sessions
Gil Evans - Out of the Cool , a minty Impulse promo release on something they call 'KC 569 blend premium virgin vinyl'
Dave Brubeck Quartet - Time Further Out, good, clean Columbia lp

A great deal of Pete Rugolo's recordings are available on CD.  You should go to Amazon and listen to the samples.  I happen to like Rugolo a lot but as I said before most of his writing and arranging fall into the realm of progressive jazz.  It won't be to everyone's liking.

I just ordered the complete recorded works of Fats Waller.  This music is spread across 6 Boxed sets, each containing 4 CDs except for the last volume, which has 5.  This is from the UK label JSP Records, and it's been on the market for years.

I decided to do it now before they all go out of print.  I almost missed out on the must-own Charlie Parker set because I procrastinated on it for too long.  It was dropped from their catalog two weeks after I bought it.
