Let me know couple of days in advance the next time you head over and I will join you guys.

Dee, I thought you gave up on vinyl?

G.

I still have a low end Technics player, that I am thinking about putting to use with brand new unused Denon 110 or 103r cartridge.  I am still not convinced about the ritual of cleaning and getting up every 20 minutes to fill the side .

20 minutes? That's a gift.

I just finished listening to the latest Clapton album mastered at 45 RPM.  I was up every 10 -12.  :duh

But it did sound great......

The Music Direct crackhouse is making a special delivery tomorrow. MFSL one step of Bridge Over Troubled Water.  Never had a good copy of this album, so I should be set now.

Wow Paul it looks like you lucked out and snagged one of the last remaining copies. The picture youo posted changed to show the sold out  label a few days after you put it up.

So have you had a chance to listen to it yet and what are your thoughts?

After a rather long spell of not much new on Tidal (outside of hip hop/urban music from Jay-Z's friends) this morning brought a wealth of new music. New albums from Paul McCartney, Yes, Paul Simon and The Grateful Dead (They found more Dead concert tapes to release, what are the odds of that? )  These are all new releases that I'm sure can be found in other places as well.

Tidal also added an MQA version of Zepplin's This Song Remains the Same.

They also put up single song previews from soon to be released albums from Tony Bennett and Diana Krall ((9/14), Rod Stewart ((/28) and a remixed version of John Lennon's Imagine album (10/5).

Fire up those streamers boys!

My wife sent me off to the Crack House today with some donations to drop of and low and behold, they were running  50% off sale. 😀

It was late afternoon, so the place was pretty much picked clean by the time I got there, but I score some nice condition LPs (only 2) , which I have not done there for quite a while.

Fritz Reiner/Chicago Symphony: Vienna - RCA Living Stereo "Shaded Dog" LP
Frederick Fennel Conducts Carousel Waltz - London Pops Orchestra -  Mercury Living Presence Stereo LP

Crosby Stills Nash and Young: Looking Forward - Reprise CD

My wife sent me out to pick something up this afternoon and I chose to go to a store that is right next to Looney Tunes.  :-"

Usually I only look at CDs there because 3/4 of their LPs look like somebody's cat used them for a scratching post. But as I looked around I noticed that their usual two rows of jazz LPs had expanded to eight rows and many of the records were in plastic sleeves. It turns out that they just took in a lagre collection of really nice condition jazz records. The guy at the counter said they had taken in more jazz LPs in the last week that he had seen come into the store in the entire six years he had worked there.

Much of the things they took in I already had, but I was able to plug a few holes in my collection.....

Ella Fitzgerald: Clap Hands Here Comes Charlie - Classic Records 180g LP
Ella Fitzgerald and Duke Ellington: The Stockholm Concert, 1966 - Pablo Live LP
Hank Mobley: Strait No Filter - Blue Note LP (Promo Copy)
Hank Mobley: Mobley's 2nd Message - Prestige LP
The Incredible Guitar of Wes Montgomery - Riverside LP

I had not been in to High Fidelity Records since they moved down the block to a bigger store a few months ago.

The new place is much roomier and I no longer have to climb over piles of records on the floor to get to the browsers. 👍

They also now have room to put out the records that were in all of those piles.whe store is well lit and well organized which make hunting a pleasant experience. 👍👍

One thing that hasn't changed is that all of his used records are in excellent condition, with the exception of a small section that is clearly marked and priced accordingly. 👍👍👍

Of all the things I pulled out to check, I did not put back a single one because I did not like its condition.

Picked up quite a few nice albums:

LPs

Grainger: Country Gardens -Fennell/Eastman Rochester Pops - Mercury Living Presence Stereo LP (TAS List)
Beethoven: Piano Concerto No. 5, "Emperor" - Ozawa/Boston Symphony Orchestra - Telarc LP
Duke Ellington Quartet: Dukes Big 4 - Pablo Sealed LP (TAS List)
Joe Pass: Portraits of Duke Ellington - Pablo LP
Joe Pass: Ira, George and Joe, Joe Pass Loves Gershwin - Pablo LP
Milt Jackson: Memories of Thelonious Shere Monk - Pablo LP
Milt Jackson/Ray Brown Jam - Pablo LP
Oscar Peterson & Dizzy Gillespie - Pablo LP
Ella Fitzgerald at the Montreux Jazz Festival 1975 - Pablo LP
Benny Carter: Additions to Further Definitions - MCA Impulse LP

CDs

Benny Carter: Jazz Giant - Contemporary K2 CD
Barney Kessel/Shelly Manne/Ray Brown: The Poll Winners - Contemporary K2 CD
Herb Ellis/Ray Brown: Hot Tracks - Concord CD
Bob Seeger: Smokin OPs/Seven - Classic Remasters (2 LPs on 1CD)

And I picked this up from Chad Kassem at the NY Audio Show:

Dean Martin: Dream with Dean - Analogue Productions SACD Hybrid

Slow day, I only found two more....

Bill Evans: Quintessence - Fantasy LP

Joe Pass: Montreux '77 - Pablo Live LP

But even better than finding records, while I was at the store I ran into Steve, the guy who owned Audio Visions, my high end brick and mortar store of choice for many years. Over the 2+ decades that I dealt with him Steve became more of a family friend than a vendor.  He retired and closed the store about 10 years ago and I don't think I have seen him for at least 6. We decided to get lunch in the restaurant that was built on the site of his store, which was kind of ironic.

As much fun as it was to find some new LPs it was much more satisfying to have the opportunity to catch up with an old friend.
