Title: If it were you
Post by: dflee on December 11, 2021, 05:58:34 PM
I have truly balanced (at least according to their lit) dac, pre and amp with no balanced cable to be had.
Which XLR to RCA would you go with to try out the balanced sections of the equipment?
Cardas makes two versions along with Neutric or Moon. Is there a difference sound wise or should I just look at the el cheepo adapters?

Thanks
Don

Just buy the Neutrik's from one of the pro audio stores.

The Moon units are quite good.  The Neutriks are hard to find in stock anywhere and the Cardas are great, but bank.

B&H and Parts Express both have the Neutriks in stock but no on Amazon.

Thank you Gents.
For just wanting to see if there is a sound difference, the Cardas do look nice but are three times the Moon price. I think I'll try the Moon for now. Next question would be which connection to try first. Dac to pre or pre to amp?

Do the entire system approach. If gear is a balanced design throughout balanced is the way to go IMHO.
