Title: What kind of audiophile are you?
Post by: BobM on February 24, 2015, 12:18:33 PM
You can select up to 3 options, because I know we are all crazy and nobody fits into any one category!

Define "At this time" For some of us that could mean for the next 15 minutes.

And I think you should add a box for bull moose crazy.......

"Official" -- An audiophile is a person enthusiastic about high-fidelity sound reproduction. Audiophile values may be applied at all stages of music reproduction: the initial audio recording, the production process, and the playback, which is usually in a home setting. -- WIKI.
"Real world" -- always searching for their individual nirvana through tweaks, upgrades, discussion, listening, learning, bantor, NPI (new product introduction) and then convincing the wife it's all necessary.

This is another fun thread. For me I'm in the cheapo/budget realm and mostly satisfied for now. I'd like to add I get curious from time to time with gear.

For me:

Music lover
Cheapo
DIYer

Although, I'm very glad to see the audiophiles actually have chosen 'music lover' as the #1 chosen option.
....cause you know how those audio guys can be. ;)

I really could choose more than 3, but...

1) Never satisfied - Who is?  Pul-leeze, don't tell me any of the rest of you are satisfied; otherwise your "Nervosa Membership Card" will be revoked! (Besides, if you don't see a need to upgrade, why didn't you stop at your first Realistic or Lafayette radio system?)

2) Music Lover - If it wasn't for the music, the rest is worthless!  (God rest your soul, Earl.)

3a) Cheap - I admit it. If you can find a deal and save a few bucks are you going to tell someone "...oh, no thanks. I rather pay full list!" C'mon, stop it already!)

3b) Tweaker - I get a kick out of really good "bang for the buck" budget tweaks. (Kinda goes right along with 3a)  Especially because many of them work without any logical explanation, which makes them all the more worthwhile and fun!

Way back when I heard another definition of an audiophile - "An audiophile is a person who spends untold amounts of money on hardware for the sole purpose of proving that all software sucks."

Bill I missed your post. Very well said. Exactly. Toady's systems reveal ALL and that source is still the undefeated champ at mucking up our enjoyment.
