11A listening tests confirmed by customer
« on: January 23, 2012, 06:37:00 PM »
Hello Gentlemen,

I wanted to notify the public that a customer, Bernie (spab) has performed his own listening tests and has confirmed my testing. In his own words.

Quote
I have also tested the 11A in terms of comparing the sound from my excellent cd source directly to amps versus inserting the 11A pre between. I could detect no difference whatsoever.... So, my two cents: the SAS preamps are stellar – with my 11A I hear no compression or any other alteration of the originating signal.

In otherwards, he was also unable to detect any sonic signatures, artificial flavors. This means that natural decays, soundstaging, tonality, dynamics, everything is  preserved by the 11A.

Critical parts are individually tested and those within 0.5% tolerance are used for sonic consistency.

For further information, one can check out my 11A webpage.

Thanks.

Thanks guys. Now I want to mention a surprise feature.

Besides being spot on, a control can be adjusted for those who wish a little color, or less. So no one is left out.

Cheers.

Hey Steve,i some how missed this thread, Any of the guys who have spent time with one of your Preamplifier's would not be the least bit suprised with your customer Bernie's observations. your 11A does sound stellar  :thumb:

Hi Bunky,

Thanks for the compliments. Since last auditioned some years ago, I have slightly upgraded the 11A one time, as the tonal balance was slightly off. As mentioned earlier, critical parts are now hand measured to within 0,5% tolerance for unit to unit consistency.

For those new to audio, Bernie's comment really has huge meaning, which corresponded to my own scientific listening tests.

When one considers depth, width, dynamics, layering, tonal accuracy, all the inner detail, whatever parameter one considers,  nothing appears to change when the 11A is inserted into one's audio system. It is totally open, not veiling in any way, totally transparent, no glass in the window to smear, to fog up.

The one caveat is the following IC to the amplifier needs to be top notch or the IC will "flavor" the music. My "V"s, Jenalabs, Stealth all seem to work great, and I am sure there are other brands as well.

Cheers.
Steve

ps. New Aluminum chassis and knobs, Specify if you wish dots around volume knobs.
