Mike we liked them very much. Even when hooked up incorrectly with the carver ribbons still on. When we noticed a bit of extra energy in the upper mids and treble regions later on we corrected the set up.
Now we are talking. These little gems gave some goosebumps. Did nothing wrong and mated with the Bryston gear like a glove.
   Very well done sir.

Some Lenehan Audio Pictures

Note in the crossovers all coils are hand wound air coils - no PCB's are used - everything is cold welded.  Mike is the only manufacturer that uses Duelund capacitors at that price point.

Thanks
Bill

Holy Cow!!! Those Duelund caps are EXPENSIVE!!! :duh
I was looking to replace a 2 microFarad and a 13 microFarad cap in my very simple (Type A) Klipschorn crossover but was flabbergasted at the cost of the Duelunds... Wow!

That's about $800, right? The last 1% is always the most expensive.

I think closer to $800 per cap! I need a total of 4 caps! ouch!

You must be talking about the uber Duelunds, not just the mere mortal Duelunds. The ubers are cylindrical and huge, while the lower priced ones look like a very expensive chocolate bar. The lower priced ones are still double that of other brands.

Yep, very expensive chocolate... four small bars would still run me $1478.56 ++

They're on sale at PartsConnexion!  http://www.partsconnexion.com/capacitor_film_duelund_vsf_speaker.html (http://www.partsconnexion.com/capacitor_film_duelund_vsf_speaker.html)

The aluminum foils VSF are about half the price of the copper VSF. But the 13uF alum is not listed, only the copper at that size, at $600 each. Dooooozy!  Try to get a quote for all aluminums Pete!

Mike uses the VSF copper in his top of the line speakers such as the ML1's I got out to you.  I think the wholesale price alone of the capacitors in the ML1's is about $500.00 per speaker ie $1000.00.  The ML3's References have about $3.5K wholesale worth of Duelund capacitors in them alone.  With Mikes Reference speakers, while not cheap, being about the same price as other high quality manufacturers like Aether Audio, you certainly know where the money goes.

Of course Mike makes speakers without Duelunds and they are quite a bit cheaper.  Trouble is once you hear Duelunds you don't want to go back - but the cost ouch.  That's why the ML2's I am looking to get out to you is not the Reference with all Duelunds but a version of the Plus R's with Duelunds as bypass.  You get 90% of the performance at a much cheaper price.  My ML3's that will be coming out will be the version with all Duelunds because that's what I purchased.

Thanks

I wouldn't use the Al on the tweeter of a horn or very revealing HF circuit, in those instances, Cu is the way to go.  The CAST is a much better cap IMO...I only use VSF in large values for now on.  This is in my experience with loudspeakers, for electronics the VSF is fine even in smaller values...just make sure it's glued in place.
