What software to burn with
«
on:

So I load the latest dBpoweramp and lo and behold their burner doesn't work on my new PC - They stopped supporting it a while ago.
I really liked that old burner - Can someone recommend a good'n?
I think I tried JRiver once but didn't get too far.
Maybe VLC?
Thanks,
-Mike

Mike,
I am assuming you are talking about burning CD's if that is the case use the built in version in Win7 or higher.

I used to use an old version of Roxio, haven't burned a CD in a long time.
I do like the Plextor drives for burning. They only make one optical rw drive anymore, $30 new! omg!

I use EAC still.
Not a lot of people ripping from cd these days.
They're all singing "I want my, I want my MP3!"

Mike I can't figure out what your problem might be but here is a link to the dBpoweramp CD Writer software download page.
https://www.dbpoweramp.com/cdwriter.htm
If you still have installer exe sitting in the downloads folder you might right click on the exe and open properties and check the compatibility tab. If you originally installed it on Win 7 or 8/8.1 you might try setting compatibility to run the program under the original operating system. Then uninstall the version of the program that is currently on the machine and run the installer exe again which is now set to the earlier OS that the program first worked on. This trick also works on older drivers which the newer OS might not support.
I use both the the ripper and the writer software on my Win 10 HAL MS-2 PC Music Server with no problems.
My truck has a CD player that I use to play classic rock "road trip" music CDs. FM isn't too good anymore.

I rip with EAC (though you have to be sure to configure it properly), and I burn with Roxio.

I figured out how to use JRiver's burner and it seems to work. Slow and no features though.
Thanks for the tips.
