Tizzy CD remasters
« on: October 03, 2015, 01:39:10 PM »
Hey all

You know that tizzy zing that some DACs add? Like a bump at 10k. Some opamps do it too, like OPA2134. This sonic flaw is why so many people prefer non-oversampling DACs like the old Phillips resistor ladder DACs.

I hear that same zingy sound imparted to some of my old jazz CDs which were "digitally remastered" for CD.  Newer all digital CDs don't have it. Not all remastered CDs have it.

What causes this? Is it jitter added to the recording during ADC? Do some ADC chips add the same zing as do some 90s era delta-sigma DACs?

How to I deal with it?
