That is funny.

Gayle and I inherited a miniature Spitz from our younger daughter many years ago.  Her name was Goldie, such is the name a 4 year old picks out after getting her at the pound (the dog, not the daughter). Fast forward 18 years... yep 18 years.  Alicia became deep at being a medical student and we had adopted Goldie years before that.  She was the most loving, fearless, funny dog we ever owned.  At the end of her life, she was deaf, blind and suffered from what our vet called "Dogsheimers"..  She would sit, facing into a corner and just shake until Gayle or I would go get her and pick her up.  At that moment, she would revert 5 years and just love on us.  She finally passed away in her sleep without pain, just being done with life.  I have not cried for some relatives the way I cried for her.  She was kind, loving, a guardian, playful (mostly) and sweet all of her life.  I wish my sister-in-law was that way.

People can learn a great deal from those that we see as somehow "lesser"...
