Ralph Glasgal has invited us all to his house for a huge audio event. I have been there several times on my own and with friends and everytime I go it just gets better. Seems he may have passed a threshold that was holding back his dreams.

Everyone is invited, those who have never been to Ralphs house are in for an audio and visual treat, it is worth the trip.

This is what I think will happen on November 4th   Sunday.

All 9 demos will be running for early arrivals starting at 1:00PM

A live string quintet performs from 2 to about 3:30.

We start a discussion and club meeting if Nemzer is on board, Rocky mountain news, Ambiophonics questions, whatever.

Break for a kosher buffet as soon as it is ready.

Continue demos and meeting.

Break for dessert

Continue demos until everyone has heard all nine or is bored to tears.
In keeping with the presidential campaign here is something you can use to excite the troops.  It is complete hyperbole, of course, with lots of half-truths and exaggerated claims.  If you use it please indicate it is a joke (sort of).
Million dollar, audiophile caliber, no expense spared, 3D sound system to be open to the public for one day only.  Take this once in a lifetime opportunity to hear what almost no audiophiles have so far been privileged to hear.  Twenty-five years in development, this ultimate system, based on proven Ambiophonic principles, is housed in a specially built room optimized for loudspeaker binaural sound reproduction.  A total of 28 line source full range electrostatic panels are used to provide a vivid sense of what John Atkinson has termed "The Domestic Concert Hall".  The realization of such a system has only been possible in the last few months with the advent of the very high speed, high resolution, CPU sound processors needed to produce normal, fully-wide/deep stages and place them in the great concert hall, jazz club, movie, rock concert or other acoustic spaces of the world.  Hear existing  LPs, CDs, SACDs, DVDs, and downloads the way they were meant to be heard (and seen in some cases).  Also hear new recordings custom made by David Chesky for this listening system thus providing an unparalleled sense of clarity, depth, and being there. Come and experience what a psychoacoustically honest surround or 3D soundscape is like.  Hear "You Are There" sound reproduction uncompromised.

A live performance in the afternoon will afford an opportunity to compare similar live and reproduced musical performances.  Eight other Ambiophonic systems of various sizes will be running before and after the live concert including the first Panambiophonic HD video demo of full 360 degree sound reproduction via just four speakers.  Come and be astonished!
System consists of an amp a preamp, 2 speakers a turntable and a phono preamp, Also some cables and power cords and a really cheap cd player.

Wow! Always fun to visit Ralph's! Thanks Mike!!!  :thumb:

I recommend as much car-pooling as possible, as parking can get tight there ;)

Hmmm, Ralph's event has always been fun because each time we'd get to listen to his Ambiophonic system, improved each time.  It just hasn't taken off.  I hope to be there.

Regarding my Car-Pooling suggestion above. There is a shopping center about 2 miles south of Ralph's with ample parking. Some guys who are driving up in their own cars, may want to meet there, and then take a single car up to Ralph's. His drive way is pretty big, but when there are a lot of cars there, getting in and out can be difficult.

The event at Ralph's is a production,so to speak, of The Audiophile Society and is our 14th concert at Ralph's home. The society pays for the event and VOLUNTARY contributions are appreciated. That's VOLUNTARY. Plenty of food and live music plus Ralph's latest refinements of his "ambiophonics" process in multiple demos all through his house. [/b]

Always a great experience. Thanks Dave for doing this and including the local clubs. Our members appreciate your clubs effort and Ralph's hospitality.

This event is still on.  below are lots of details (text is not mine):

1:00 doors open  -- ambiophonic demos
2:00 p.m. concert
after concert --  food
Sunday, November 4th at the home of Linda and Ralph Glasgal

We are delighted to announce that this year's live music fest will feature the brilliant Orion Music Ensemble, guided by founder Beryl Diamond Chacon. From September 1991 through September 2012 the OME performed every weekend at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's "Music on the Balcony" series. The OME strives to reclaim forgotten editions of chamber music from the 18th through 20th centuries, while emphasizing the great Romantic repertoire. Widely acclaimed, the OME has been featured in The New York Times and on CBS Sunday Morning with Charles Osgood. Ms Diamond Chacon also originated the first year of MoMA's Summergarden, and created and programmed the WorldBeat Jazz Series held at the Guggenheim Museum. As a Juilliard-trained violinist she has played under the baton of Zubin Mehta, Sir George Solti and Bernard Haitink.

All concertgoers are encouraged to arrive after 1:00 p.m. to enjoy the nine unique audio demos that Ralph will have running simultaneously. The latest version of his million-dollar Ambiophonic system, twenty-five years in development and now updated with high-speed, high-resolution sound processors, will be providing us with spectacular 3-D sound playback. A total of 28 line-source electrostatic panels are used to create a vivid sense of what John Atkinson termed The Domestic Concert Hall. We'll be able to hear LPs, CDs, SACDs, DVDs and HD downloads the way they were meant to be heard, while also auditioning new recordings custom made for this system. Ralph promises an uncompromised "You Are There" listening experience.

After the OME performance, David Nemzer will lead a brief club meeting, with reports from the recent Rocky Mountain Audio Fest. Afterwards we'll break for a kosher buffet, probably around 4:30 p.m., so don't rush off! Demos will continue all over Ralph's house while the caterer prepares coffee and dessert. People can chat or take in the various demos throughout the day (and evening). Ralph will be setting up a variety of surround demonstrations: one built into a laptop; a very affordable system using ordinary speakers and components; a screening of three movie clips with Ambiophonic sound tracks; and, of course, the ultimate high-end Domestic Concert Hall, which has been greatly enhanced over the past year.

Ralph will also be introducing the new binaural recordings made by David Chesky, which are specifically intended by David to be played back Ambiophonically. Demos of these and other similar 3-D tracks, including some in full 360-degree surround, will be running continuously on the latest Android and Apple mobile devices, as well as via PC and conventional high-end audio component systems.

DIRECTIONS TO RALPH'S HOUSE: Take the Palisades Parkway south from the Tappan Zee Bridge or north from the GW Bridge or Route 80. Take exit 2 off the Parkway and turn left going South on Route 9W. Turn right onto Closterdock Road, go down the hill to Piermont Road and turn right. Drive north on Piermont Road about 3 miles to the first driveway on the right after the "Entering Rockleigh" sign. The address is 2 or 4 Piermont Road. Ralph's phone is 201-784-0614. The driveway is a half-mile long, straight up through the woods. There is a parking lot off to the right about halfway up. If you need to park closer to the house, drive up to the house, turn around, and park on the right side of the driveway facing downhill.

More about the Orion Music Ensemble:

The OME was founded as a Piano Quintet in 1991 to perform informal Chamber music concerts every weekend year round at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. The exploration of the many facets and instrumentations of chamber music throughout the centuries was furthered by the changing exhibits at the museum. Reclaiming and performing forgotten editions of chamber music has been a high priority for the ensemble. Though the range of Orion's repertoire spans the 18th to 20th Centuries, the emphasis of the ensemble is on the great Romantic repertoire. The Quartet has been photographed by House & Garden Magazine, written up by The New York Times, The New York Observer and featured on CBS Sunday Morning with Charles Osgood as well as appearing on Japanese Public Television.

The Orion Music Ensemble has adapted several well known pieces into transcriptions, such as Beethoven's Septet and both of the Brahms String Sextets for Piano Quartet. The ensemble has performed the Bach Double Violin Concerto with Violin and Spanish Guitar accompanied by String Chamber Orchestra. Orion's repertoire includes Mozart's last six Symphonies, Haydn's Symphonies and Beethoven's First Piano Concerto, Second and Seventh Symphonies, The Beethoven Triple Concerto and Schubert's Trout Quintet.

The Orion Music Ensemble is managed by first violinist Beryl Diamond Chacon, who performs on a beautiful violin made by JB Rogerius (1690) and a Dominique Pecatte bow both of which were donated to her to continue her performances by a private patron in 2009. She gratefully acknowledges the generosity of this spirit. Beryl Diamond Chacon is a concert violinist and a graduate of The Juilliard School. She studied Chamber Music with Earl Carlyss of The Juilliard Quartet and the late legendary Josef Gingold. She studied violin with Eugene Phillips and Sally Thomas. She has played under the baton of Zubin Mehta, Sir George Solti and Bernard Haitink. She performed as concertmistress in Avery Fisher Hall with her small chamber orchestra as well as in Lincoln Center's MidSummers Night Series. Appearing as concertmistress and violin soloist, Ms Diamond Chacon conducted members of the London Symphony and the Royal Philharmonic at a private reception for the Queen and members of the Royal family. She has appeared onstage with The Royal Shakespeare Company on Broadway performing the Mendelsohn Violin Concerto. Ms Diamond Chacon produced, programmed and performed The Met Museums Music on The Balcony, an informal chamber music series each weekend, from Sept 1991 through Sept 2012. She created an acoustic music series at the Guggenheim Museum, the WorldBeat Jazz Series, as well as originating the first year of MoMA's Summergarden. Ms Diamond Chacon is active in the commercial recording field where she has recorded for numerous artists on the Columbia, BMG and Warner labels. These include Tony Bennett, Carly Simon, Katy Perry, Bette Midler and Billy Joel. On her own label, Beryllium Records. she has produced and recorded "The Romantic Piano Trio", "OME: Piano Quartet Selections" and the new 2012 release "Music On The Balcony.

Hi Barry. I just got power back on and getting caught up with emails from all week. I received an email from David and Russ from the NY and NJ clubs saying it is still on at Ralph's on Sunday. Ralph has power and his driveway is clear. David asked if people can try and let them know if they are coming so they have a head count.

Also let me know if you want to ride up with Kevin and I. I will also be reaching out to Merrill to see if he would like to car pool with us.
