I originally ordered my 8TC wire as a single run, no bi-wire.
I would now like to have someone terminate them with either
spades or bananas for bi-wiring. Is there anyone local on LI or
NYC that does good quality terminations?
I tried contacting Kimber, but have received no response.
Thanks.

Jim,

First name that comes to mind is Scott Gramlich at SG Custom Sound in Douglaston. I know he has done work on cable terminations for other club members in the past.

Thanks Tom, he seems like just what I need. I sent him an email, and hopefully I
can get this done quickly.

Jim

FWIW - A lot of us Syndrome members (including myself) have used Scott for numerous repairs, mods, etc...  He has a great little shop (really cool custom speakers) and he's a great guy to work with.

Jim- for biwiring to work you need two separate cables.  Putting separate connectors on what is essentially a twisted pair will not provide any performance enhancement.  You need to separate, by a few inches, the stronger magnetic field produced by the bass current, from the weaker magnetic field producted by the tweeter / mids current.  You can only do this by separating the wires.  In your case, the Kimber 8TC is a worst case scenario as the wires are twisted together.

As always, IMH(but educated)O

Jim,

Scott G has a wonderful reputation and he is a former Syndrome member. For local service, I concur with the others that Scott can do your work.

Jim,

Russ is right, simply putting extra connectors onto a single run of cable is not really bi-wiring. But if your real objective is to simply use that run of Kimber Cable to connect to a pair of speakers that is set up with Bi-wiring terminals the connectors will do the trick. Unfortunately if you are looking for the sonic improvements of Bi-wiring I think you will really need to invest in another set of cables. It all depends on what your objective is.

It is, it is, a sickness. Lately I have had it bad.

Kimber used to take cables in on trade towards an upgrade.
They used to be very customer oriented too. My 8TC must be 10 years old.
At one time I had Kimber re-terminate mine for just the cost of postage and ends.
Did you try to call them?
