Title: New Phono Pre On Order

I've sunk a lot of money and time into my analog rig lately, so I decided to complete the puzzle by upgrading my phono pre. I've decided on the Sutherland Engineering "Insight" to take the place of my existing phono pre. Jim at HiFi Heaven has made me a nice offer and given me a fair trade-in on my old one. Now I have to move some things around to accommodate the Insight.

Hey Jack
Congrats on your upgrade. What was your old preamp? Did you compare them before deciding?
What did you like better about the Sutherland?
They made a battery powered model, iirc?

I'm using a Pro-Ject Phono Box SE II that I've had through my last two (Music Hall MMF 2.2 and 5.1) turntables. I bought this on reputation alone, but I also have 30 day trial period. I was interested in the Musical Surroundings Nova II which is a battery unit.

Jack hope the Sutherland works out for you. The Musical Surround is VG as well. My favorite SS phono is Klyne. For tubed Lamm. Enjoy !!

Today I received my Sutherland "Insight" phono preamp. It's found its place in the rack and sounding great. There's a definite warmth with this one. Made the hair on the back of my neck and the cat's tail stand on end.

Telstra have the Desire or the Mozart available on the 49 plans well they did at Xmas time when I was swapping over.  I have Xperia and should have waited for the Mozart.

  Now that you have heard it in your system you find it a tad warm. Should hear more info with battery power as it is quite as a Church mouse.
 Next up is trying a different cart. Lyra, Sound Smith and Dynavector work realyl well with Sutherland. ENJOY !!!
