Rachel Flowers

If I am the only person who'd never heard of her, please skip this post.

I was wandering YouTube watching Zappa vids and I see a Zappa Plays Zappa segment where Rachel joins Dweezil onstage and just shreds it on guitar. She has an unusual stage presence so I looked her up - 1 1/2 pounds at birth, blind since 3 months old.

But apparently she is mostly a keyboard player. Check out her many amazing Keith Emerson / ELP covers on YouTube.  Amazing, and brings back so many memories from my ELP-loving days.

Oh, and watch her play "Portrait of Tracy" on bass - something else.

A truly inspiring musician who has inspired me to raise my game as a musician (well OK, drummer ) and a human being.

I am moved so very deeply by her - can't explain it.

Can't find it, Mike. Can you mention the complete title in the Zappa plays Zappa segments?

I picked up her solo album that was released earlier this year. In the video's she's famous for she plays a lot of ELP, mimicking Keith Emerson, and shreds it. On her solo album she plays jazz, accompanied by other bandmates and an orchestra. She is pretty damn good. I highly recommend checking out her album.

Now for the really incredible part - she is blind. You can get the album here:
