What a sleek looking preamp.
Some questions regarding the tubes for this P2688.
From reading the article I found this. "Up front is the full complement of tubes; two 101D directly heated triodes, Melody’s own branded 274B rectifier tube, and two NOS Western Electric 403A input tubes."
Any idea as to why these tubes were chosen? Did Melody want to make a preamp without the more common preamp tubes used? Were these tubes selected because of the cost of this preamp? A lot of these tubes are ones I never heard of other than maybe the rectifier tube and seem quite exotic.
