I agree with BobM's assessment of the bounce situation...
Some diffusion will balance the volume better throughout the room.. it did in mine...
In an extreme environment (one where the SO doesn't allow much/if any treatment) I would suggest panels of absorption in the primary reflective spots.  If you can do some corner treatments, that'd be good too.. but when I had to keep treatments extremely minimal, specific absorption was more effective in imaging in my situation.. but there are certainly more involved solutions that could be better.. just requires a lot of learning around your room requirements with a focus on imaging.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but are you guys saying that the XLO Gold disc is the one to have?  I've never tried one of these discs in my system to check for speaker placement, but you guys definitely seem to say it is worthwhile.
