Small Tube Dampers
« on: February 25, 2007, 09:26:45 AM »
I need to get some tube dampers.  I don't have a lot of room between tubes and they lay horizontal.  Also, I can't get any socks or anything that would increase heat due to the chassis layout.

Any suggestions?

Herbies tube dampers aren't too big but they are larger than just a plain o-ring. I used them in a Grounded Grid preamp and the tubes were close enough that I had to align the openings in the dampers with the adjacent silicone donuts.

They don't increase the heat that I'm aware of and work quite well for noisy tubes.

Thanks Mike.

I may give those a try.  I wasn't sure if they'd fit or not - guess there's one way to find out....

Hi Bpapge,

If you pm me with your address, I can also get some O rings out via letter. Very inexpensive so no problem. If interested, just let me know how many you need.

I just opened the hood on my SAS 10A for the 1st time. my 10A also came with a pair of Pearl Cryovalve JJ Tesla's that i wanted to try out. the Siemens E88CC A-frames that were already in it have some red silicone tube Dampers on them. 8) thanks....WCW III

Did you ever get a set of tube dampers? Did they help out?

I am getting ready to order some from Herbies, so I was curious of your thoughts.

Honestly no.  Haven't done anything yet.  Things have been a bit nutty and it just hasn't been on the top of my list.  Haven't really even had a ton of time to do much serious listening.
