Mission 707s
« on: August 10, 2013, 03:17:50 AM »
Just picked up a pair of the classic 70's Brit bookshelfs from the local thrift store for $6.95.  The cosmetics are not pretty, as they are scratched and dirty.  The foam surrounds on the woofs are dry rotted away, but the voice coils move freely without rubbing.

Not to worry. I can get a new set of surrounds from www.simplyspeakers.com for about $25 and have them fixed in about an hour.

This place is becoming my crack house. I picked up an original Philips single beam CD player for five bucks(!) from there a while ago.  Its donated transport revived my beloved Kinergetics KCD20.

Nice find Allen!

I checked the place I buy parts, Orange County Speaker Repair, they say that woofer can't be refoamed with DIY kit.

Maybe they just don't have a kit, but might be worth a cal... That way you can spend $100 on your $7 speakers! Haha
