Title: New member - Jdavis37
Post by: jdavis37 on October 03, 2018, 06:23:30 PM
Greetings! Am obviously a new member and thus this post. I live in southeastern USA and am 56 years "mature" though my spousal unit often asks if I am forever 12. I grew a love for audio as a teenager when I was too poor to really dream of owning a turntable and I spent hours of time on weekends in various stereo stores admiring all the nice stuff. This way back when even smaller cities actually had stereo stores!

So fast forward.. I had a decent system, for 2 ch sound in the late 1980s which I eventually sold for a HT system which after my son was grown I sold and went back to 2 ch sound. Current gear is:

SST Thoebe II Preamp
SST Son of Ampzilla II Amp
Philharmonic Audio Phil 3 speakers
Esoteric K-07 Dac/CD player
Atoll MS-100 music streamer

am currently looking for a different DAC, seeking something that has a more full emotional calling. Thus searching through this site!

Welcome jdavis.  What's your budget range for a new DAC.

Welcome to the forum! That’s some great gear you have👍 I bought the Border Patrol SE dac based on some good comments here. 16/44 is just fine with me when it’s as musical and enjoyable as this dac plays. Certainly a better dac than my previous Antelope Gold

Welcome to the herd!

44.1/16 NOS DACs fill the bill as do higher rate R2R Dacs.  They make music not bags and bags of detail...

YMMV
