Technically this looks very interesting, but I will reserve judgement until we can actually hear what they sound like.

That looks familiar, was there something like that a few years ago related to Korg?

Mo' info:
http://www.korg.com/us/news/2015/012212/

Low plate voltage (can run on batteries) so it can be used where opamps are now used, without expensive HV PS.

But also says, " is tuned for optimal effect to generate rich harmonics when used with a musical instrument. "
Dunno bout that.

"tuned for optimal effect to generate rich harmonics " makes me nervous. Sounds a long way from the theoretical straight wire with gain.

I absolutely agree Tmax, and demonstrates to me how little these and other so called "giants" of design and manufacturing understand audio.

By the way, the JJ E88cc in my designs produce distortion approximately 78db down, with no feedback, 2 vrms output. And what is produced is low order.

Besides that, the JJs E88cc in my circuit lasts 28,000 hours from minimal accounts emailed to me.

Yes, it uses a whopping, astronomical, colossal, enormous, galactic, gargantuan, immense 1.6 watts of power per section, counting filament dissipation. A major greenhouse producer for sure.

IMO, the "Peter Principle" sure seems to apply to the "giants".

Cheers

Korg doesn't care about audio quality they would use opamps for that. This is meant for musical instrument effects. Cheaper to build and more reliable than normal tubes. Pro audio thinks tubes are for adding distortion, not for reducing it.

Excellent points Rich. I definitely have my mind so concentrated on quality reproduction I did not think of those points. I need a vacation, hmmmm, but I am already retired. Yikes.
Cheers.
