The Brian Setzer Orchestra: Songs From Lonely Avenue

Normally I enjoy Setzer's modern interpretations of big band swing jazz, but this album is an unfortunate victim of the ipod generation. The CD has about 3db of dynamic range and that goes from louder to super loud. Too bad, because musically it's too bad, but the sound quality does not lend itself to play on a high quality system.   :(

(I'm sure glad I borrowed this one, and the Neil Diamond CD, from the library)

Marion McPartland's Piano Jazz with guest Dave Brubeck

One of a series of CDs of a radio show Marion McPartland did in which she interviews and plays with various jazz artists. This one features the show she did with Dave Brubeck. In addition to playing some great music they spend some time talking about the ins and outs of jazz. One of the better shows in the series.

Arthur Fiedler & the Boston Pops: Perter and the Wolf

Narrated by Alec Guinness. The music is done well but the narration is kind of stiff and dry. Exactly the opposite of what I would have expected out of an actor of Guinness' caliber.
