What are you using to keep track of your collection?

Have you ever been in the spot where you're looking at a CD/LP and wonder... "Sh*t... do I already have this one?"

Some folks here have some very impressive collections. Wondering if you use any particular SW/Excel/something else to manage when heading out to pick something up?

Happens all the time.  What happens is that I get home to find that I just bought my third copy of a particular lp that I don't play much.
I need to spend about an hour pulling extras from the shelves and put them up for sale- not so much about the cash as it is about the space saved.

And then you realize, the one you thought you had... nope!  :duh

I happen to rip everything into FLAC and mp3s separately... I tried printing from iTunes (we use for background music) but it keeps choking about 1/4 through...

I have been avoiding going to PREX but if I do start up again, I plan to leverage Google docs to store a spreadsheet.  Just need to figure out how much time I am willing to generate the original spreadsheet from JRiver or something similar.  Need to make it as accurate as I can.  The one thing I will avoid is try to keep track of a particular edition/version.

I was about to answer with a smug, "I don't need anything to keep track since I remember everything..." but just tonight, as I was looking for a particular physical CD that I thought I had - it turns it I did not have it at all! It must have been something I borrowed from a family member. Then rummaging through the cabinet, I find another album by the same artist that I completely forgotten but had all along but never even played!

Maybe this would be a good program. I looked at it a couple of years ago.

I use “Music Collector”, very handy. It allows me to keep my collection in my iphone, ipad, and Mac, all synchronized.

Cesar,
How long have you had the software and has it been reliable?

I have used the software for close to three years without problems. You can download it and try it. It has some nice features and it’s very easy to input the data.
