Nick, use Google Chrome browser and it will automatically translate French to English , if you want to try it.

Deepak,
Im getting closer....logged in and started using the web player on my iPad with Google translator. Quobuz downloads the songs and starts playing them, but no sound. Not sure how to fix that one.

Anecdotal Evidence / Re: Joke of the Day

A father put his 3 year old daughter to bed, told her a story and listened to her prayers which ended by saying:

"God bless Mommy, God bless Daddy, and God bless Grandma and goodbye Grandpa."

The father asked, "Why did you say goodbye Grandpa?"

The little girl said, "I don't know, Daddy, it just seemed like the thing to do."

The next day grandpa died!

The father thought it was a strange coincidence

A few months later the father put the girl to bed and listened to her prayers which went like this:
God bless Mommy, God Bless Daddy and goodbye Grandma"

The next day the grandmother died

"Holy Moly," thought the father, "this kid is in contact with the other side."

Several weeks later when the girl was going to bed the dad heard her say:

"God bless Mommy and goodbye Daddy."

He practically went into shock. He couldn't sleep all night and got up at the crack of dawn to go to his office.

He was nervous as a cat all day, had lunch and watched the clock. He figured if he could get by until midnight he would be okay.

He felt safe in the office, so instead of going home at the end of the day, he stayed there, drinking coffee, looking at his watch and jumping at every sound.

Finally, midnight arrived, and he breathed a sigh of relief and went home.

When he got home his wife said: "I've never seen you work so late; what's the matter?"

He said, "I don't want to talk about it; I've just spent the worst day of my life."

She said: "You think you had a bad day, you'll never believe what happened to me this morning.... My golf pro dropped dead in the middle of my lesson.

If you already have an account, just signin with the existing account.  Go under your account and select "My Profile", check the "I have a gift code" enter code and you should be all set, hopefully.  Qobuz seems to be doing a lot of infrastructure updates recently so occasionally you are likely to see "Internal error 500 messages".  I have run into that only once over the last 3 or so weeks that I have been using Qobuz.  My current assumption is that they are putting the infrastructure in place for US roll out.  I wish they would put up an announcement about when they are doing the upgrades so folks do not panic.  It kind of leaves a bad impression if you are trying to roll it out and have people interested in their service.

The "Official Qobuz Issues Thread" have two Qobuz employees actively participating and accepting users feedback.  David Craff is listed as Product Manager for Qobuz under Linkedin and David Solomon is listed as "David.. Qobuz, Hi-Res Music Evangelist".

D, after I  sign in and then go to profile, the next webpage is suddenly in French. I clicked on a few buttons, but no luck. Maybe the issue is simply where the Quobuz server is on the west coast....Im in Utah. Using the app itself puts me in a loop advising a free trial is unavailable.  Thanks anyway

Digital Audio Devices / Re: Why I don't give a **** about MQA...
« Last post by TrueAudio on September 22, 2018, 04:20:28 PM »
I found out about this by cruising on the net reading as much as I could.  It's VHS/Beta/HDCD/DVD-A/SACD/MSMFT/LSD all of again.

The worst thing that can happen to Redbook is when it is decimated to 96K or above.  88.2 sounds infinitely better than 96.  Whose moronic idea was that anyway... oh, yeah: video guys  ](*,)
"MQA has received criticism from various sources within the music industry.

Audio product manufacturer Schiit Audio announced that it will not be supporting MQA due to, amongst other reasons, the understanding that supporting MQA means handing over the entire recording industry to an external standards organization.[16]

In a blog post title MQA is Bad for Music. Heres why"[17] Hi-fi Manufacturer Linn Products criticises MQAs licensing requirements, asserting that MQA is "...an attempt to control and extract revenue from every part of the supply chain, and not just over content that they hold the rights for.[17] Linn conclude[clarification needed] that as a consumer you will "pay a higher price for the same music, and youll pay more for your hi-fi system too. And even if you dont buy into MQA, everyone will get less innovation, creativity and poorer music as a result."[17]

In an interview for online publication Positive Feedback, engineer Andreas Koch is critical of MQA due to its lossy algorithms and compression, along with its licensing requirements; also saying that a format such as this "does not solve any problem that the world currently has."[18] Koch was involved in the creation of the Super Audio CD, the development of the Direct Stream Digital codec, and is co-founder of audio product manufacturer Playback Designs.

An article titled Digital Done Wrong[19] on the International Audio/Video Review web site, concluded that MQA is founded on a fundamentally unsound understanding of correct digital audio processing and found that playback of a sample MQA encoding demonstrated gross distortion and reconstruction failure. It did however comment that some listeners may find the technical defects of MQA encoding subjectively pleasing.

Some critical comments have been made in online forums such as the Computer Audiophile forum[20] and in audio magazine website comments, and a few writers have expressed concern in some areas. Over 80 detailed questions, some of which voiced these concerns, were submitted to the editors of the Computer Audiophile forum and subsequently addressed in detail by the creator of MQA, Bob Stuart, in an extended question-and-answer article.[21]"

Glad someone else were able to register with the code.  For now your account is going to stay in UK but my understanding based on other forums is the accounts are going to be converted to US once it is officially available in US.  The big question is going to are all you favorites in UK have the same content licensing agreements in place.

I was able to sign up for an account via this qb-en URL and used the CEDIA2018 code for a 3 month trial.  Didn't even need to enter payment information.

But, the site does show me in United Kingdom and will not let me change that.    Still, good opportunity to play with it.  It will be very interesting to see how (and when) Roon integrates Qobuz.
