Yeah, a good sign. My respect for millenials is marginally increased.

You still need a steam generator and a water chiller to run it, so not much different than current technology, just newer machines under robot control.

Surely someone can invent a new form of analog media that does not require this steampunk technology to manufacture?

Now all we need is for the supply of raw vinyl to get ramped up as that it starting to become a bottleneck.

Interesting! I did not know that. I wonder why?

I would think it is because the demand was so low for so long that a lot of suppliers either stopped making it or scaled back capacity.

I read it as a comment in an interview from somebody at a record pressing plant who was asked if they would be looking for more presses and he said no because he was barely able to get enough raw vinyl to operated what he had on line , so it was pointless to invest in more pressing capacity.

But to be fair, now that I think about it I must have read that about a year ago, so perhaps the vinyl resurgence has inspired some of the vinyl suppliers to ramp up their own production.

The other night on the national news was a segment on a company that purchased several new machines. They also had a "recording room" where individuals and bands could record on the premise. Besides that, they designed their own album covers.

Those machines looked similar to the one's Rich's link showed. If someone else saw the segment, maybe they can add more.

Cheers

What network, what time?

I don't know Rich. I was doing some reading and saw this segment. It might have been a morning news program, CBS or NBC. Someone, I think in Michigan, wasn't really interested in pressing, but somehow got involved. They had a small recording setup, showing someone playing as they spoke. They also designed and made the jackets etc. I think they just purchased some new machines, saving time.

My short term memory is so poor, too many accidents. Long term memory is still good though. Wish I could help more, will continue to check around.

Cheers
Steve

Here you go steve!

Acetylcholine might help your short term memory. Most people are deficient in choline (http://lpi.oregonstate.edu/mic/other-nutrients/choline) because we don't eat liver and eggs anymore. Choline alfoscerate (aka Alpha GPC) is a choline supplement that easily turns into acetylcholine.

I had better write this down, otherwise I will forget what it is by the time I get to the store.......

Rich, you are The man. You came thru in the clutch. Yes, that is it. Can't remember any more superlatives.

Thanks for the heads up on choline. I had also forgotten about that.

I had also forgotten about that.

Acetylcholine is good for brain power, but plain choline (besides making acetylcholine) also fixes fatty liver, and all the problems that go with that.
