diy diffusers

I got inspired when I spotted these in the AC RMAF report from Pez and Tyson (day 3). They looked easy enouh to build. Some stained dowels and painted pine top and bottom. I don't need them floor standing so I can make a 4' tall version to hang on the front wall behind my Apogees. Hopefully they will make that front wall less of a "visible" boundary. In any case they should look better than the bubble wrap I have glued up now.

Here's a bunch hang drying (much easier to stain them this way too)
Another bunch waiting to be built:

That's cool! Looking forward to hearing your listening impressions Bob!
Reviewers of those shakti crueller candelabras say they sound great. The concept makes sense. You have 2 different diameter dowels?

I have the following sizes, all in 4' lengths
2", 1.5", 1.375", 1.25", 1.125", 1", 7/8"
it's going to be about 15 poles per diffuser in a pseudo random pattern.

Here's the finished product(s). 15" and a 20" panel to go on my front wall (no idea why they are showing up sideways here - sorry)
And them hanging in place
I'm glad I had the cutting and sanding done before the storm. This kept me busy for a while (and power is back now).

Those are interesting. Any opinion so far?
It does look like the originals had a mirror image pattern:
Are there any links to the manufacturer?

I think the originals are Shakti.
They are essentially doing what I wanted - making the front wall appear to be farther away than it is ion actuality, presenting me with a deeper soundstage. So all in all I am pleased with the effort, and the look.

Bob,
If you do not mind what was the total damage in making the diffusers?
Thanks

A bunch of dowels in different sizes from Home Depot and Lowes, a 6' x 6" pine board for the tops and bottoms, a can of stain/poly and some black paint I had on the shelf and wood screws I had in the drawer. Only about $110 plus about 6 hours or so of labor.
